Tuesday evening, November 29th, Omaha City Council member Ben Gray announced that he would be reintroducing non-discrimination legislation in the Omaha City Council in January. January 24th, 31st, and February 7th will be important dates to remember for the legislation as well as for the Omaha area Queer community. Please consider taking time off for those dates to attend the City Council meetings at 2pm. Further details about the legislation will be released at a later date.
Ben Gray also mentioned that as a result of the legislation, certain North Omaha religious organizations are gathering a dark storm against the legislation and also against him in the next election cycle. Ben Gray stressed he didn’t take an oath to protect the Bible, he took an oath to protect the US Constitution, and that he has an obligation under the 14th amendment to support legislation that protects all citizens under the due process of the law. All to thunderous applause.
Its amazing how a simple piece of legislation that is meant to citizens is a no brainer to all but those with no brains!!!
The event at House of Loom was hosted by CFEP and PFLAG and many local elected officials, past , present and even future were there. Among them; Mike and Anne Boyle, Ben Gray, and Gwen Howard. Council Bluffs City Council-elect, Nate Watson and Unicam candidate for District 9, Sara Howard were also there in attendance.
Additional information including letters to send officials and their emails will be posted at this blog later this week.
