Local Churches Major Part of Anti-LGBT Petition Drive.

OMAHA, NE – Local churches are a major part of the current anti-LGBT petition drive, in most cases they are THE location where the petition will be signed. There is a huge coalition of churches involved going by a variety of names, as vast and varied as their own hatred for lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgendered people, pushing their hatred upon their church goers.

According to the Omaha World Herald, Christ Community Church, Omaha Catholic Parishes, Omaha Trinity Hope Foursquare Church, Westside Church, Lifegate Church, King of Kings Lutheran Church, and Salem Baptist Church are among the churches actively participating.  The reality is, even more churches are involved and most of them belong to the Nebraska Heritage Coalition, which help create the bigoted Omaha Liberty Project.

One of the guys that is in charge of the Omaha Liberty Project is from Nigeria, Femi Awodele.  I think its unusual that these Tea Party types would except a foreigner in their ranks. I guess when you’re anti-gay its A-OK, right?  These are same type of  people who had no problem bringing Africans as slaves over in the boats, but have issues when people seeking a better life want to cross the Rio Grande.  Only foreigner’s who agree with Tea Party bigotry are allowed, I suppose?  Awodele is the one who set up the website to take people’s donations and owns the Christian Couples Fellowship.

To those who have never seen the First Amendment, this is what it looks like: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” As you can see it says Congress shall make NO LAW respecting an establishment of religion, which means, quit shoving your anti-LGBT religious beliefs down my throat. Thanks.  I will never understand why a group of people who are supposed to help people will spend their time and money to destroy the lives of people who do not even concern them in the first place. Speaking of religion:

Harvey Milk said it best, ““The fact is that more people have been slaughtered in the name of religion than for any other single reason. That, that my friends, that is true perversion!”  Now they are using it to strip away people’s rights!!

  2. Oh nice one my dear. You Christians spearheaded things like The Crusades and The Inquisition and have killed more than their fair share over their own Christian religions, despite the fact that your savior, Jesus Christ, preached peace and turning the other cheek. Get a clue, Sheri. I live in a free nation and intend to stay in one, meaning LGBT protections WILL stay in Omaha. Get used to it. I said something bigoted? Are you a Tea Partier, Sheri? Because if you are your type had no problems bringing African slaves on boats against their will, but when people want to cross the Rio Grande for a better life, then all of a sudden you have problem with immigration. Like I said, get a clue.

  3. mark ashton is a willow creek association pastor and wca pastors believe in being opportunists for the most part.

(that is a motto to WCA churches: speak with a silver tongue and say anything to be liked. (i.e. being seeker-sensitive)

(that explains why their churches wont publically speak out on so called “Christian” Prophets and Domionist Peddlers

on the right like Cindy Jacobs and Lou Engle and Rick Joyner and Mike Bickle

who have said a lot of untruthful things and have made up so called prophecies “god” told them (and then when they dont happen, they call “God” scatter-brained)

(btw, Mark Ashton ‘s silence on Bickle/Jacobs/Joyner makes me think he supports the Domionists

nor will folks like “Pastor” Mark Ashton denounce the hate rhetoric of the AFA folks

(and in particular Bryan Fischer (a man seen and denounced by both sides as being a bigot)

but yet, these same churches like “Christ” Community Church and “Life”gate and King of Kings Church will get involved and promote their conservative political beliefs

I guess they dont really care about anything except proping up willow creek association churches and appeasing their psuedo-conservative followers.

btw, lets remember that City councilman Franklin Thompson is a member of Lifegate Church (wonder if he is involved in this thing that Lifegate is doing)

    • btw, for those who are intrested, you should check out

      http://www.youtube.com/rwwblog

which keeps tabs on many of the folks that are liked by

“Christ” Community Church and Omaha Trinity Hope Foursquare Church and Westside Church of Omaha and “Life” gate Church of Omaha and King of Kings Lutheran Church and Salem Baptist Church

what the far-right says and who these churches support and are enabling and or endorsing is terrifying to say the least.

  4. ken, something dawned on me.

since some of the churches are being involved overturning the petition use high school or jr. high or college campuses,

is there a way we could put pressure on the high school or jr. high or college campuses that some of the churches are meeting at

to pull them from using their facilities on sunday mornings.

btw, here is a list of known omaha area “churches” that meet on secular school property:

Christ Community Church of Omaha- Sarpy Campus (meets at Bellevue University

All Nations Church Omaha (meets at Millard South High School)

Calvary Chapel of West Omaha (meets at Millard North High School)

Life Church of Omaha (meets at Westside High School)

Steadfast Bible Fellowship of Omaha (meets at Lewis and Clark Middle school (a OPS school) btw

Steadfast Bible Fellowship of Gretna (meets at Gretna Elementary School in Gretna Nebraska

Journey Church of Gretna Nebraska (meets at Gretna Middle School

Waters’ Edge Church (meets at Millard West High School

Chalco Hills Baptist Church (meets at Palisades Elementary School near 168th and Harrison)

btw, I personally dont see why any public school or UNO is allowing a church to meet on their property at all.

and if they are allowed, I say that “church” that meets on school property should pay taxes like the rest of us do.

personally, I think any secular school that allows a church to meet on their property should be ashamed of themselves. The churches can get their own property.
